Glaucoma

5/18/2020

Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that causes damage to the optic nerve which is the nerve that supplies visual information to your brain from your eyes. Glaucoma is usually, but not always, the result of abnormally high pressure inside your eye. Over time, the increased pressure can destroy your optic nerve tissue, which may lead to vision loss or even blindness. If it is diagnosed early on, there may be the prevention of additional vision loss. Many forms of glaucoma have no warning signs. The effect is so gradual that you may not notice a change in vision until the condition is at an advanced stage. Regular eye exams that include the measurements of eye pressure can catch glaucoma in its early stages and treat it appropriately.
